A very expensive floor lamp

This time a year it's haute couture time. Paris is about to melt in this hot summer month, but the fashion show must go on. And while the calendar says July, the couture says winter time. The couture week is probably the most fashionable event in the fashion world. Only the V.I.P's of the V.I.P's are invited, as the most expensive gowns are shown in the most glamorous settings. But there's always some dresses that's not so glamorous. For example this Chanel dress, which in my opinion looks like an old floor lamp....

Sci-fi dream

Gareth Pugh is not really my kind of man, because he's a bit too avantgarde to my taste. I didn't really find him suitable for Paris. I think he's more of a London guy. But then this collection came along, and my mind changed. This is of course avantgarde, but still very Parisian and very chic. The leather and how it's draped makes it very organic and gives the collection such a soft look while the makeup and the colors still made it very dark, a bit like Nina Ricci fall/winter 2010. I'm in love with this collection. It's sort of a sci-fi leather dream. 

More green

At the just completed Milan fashion week, one of the bright colors between all the expected black dresses, was as in New York green. Not the spring season like grass green, but a much more toned down and sophisticated green. All colors can be good or bad, it's just a matter of finding the right shade to balance it. Long or short

At Etro it was either long or short. Two looks that doesn't really suit me and my hight very well. So I guess I'm not a Etro girl for winter. And that's really just fine by me. That totally Milan girl that Etro portrayed isn't my style anyway. 

What happened here?

London fashion week in on. Normally I'm a big fan of London based brand Aquascutum. But this time I actually didn't want any of the 30 looks on the runway. In my opinion it was not only  boring collection but on the edge of being just ugly. The beige nude colors doesn't suit any one. Really! The floor long skirts are not for normal people. If I came to a party dressed in a skirt like that, people would think I had mistaken the party for a prairie theme party for Amish people. Not good...! 

A green winter

For winter black is obvious color choice number 1. But season by season lots of colors see there way into the collection. Oscar de la Renta had a lot of pop colors as well as Victoria Beckham, Marchesa, and Rodarte. One of my favorite colors is green. And many houses joined my affection for that color. I especially love the Tommy Hilfiger dress with the three like print. I would love to be the lucky owner of that gorgeous piece. From left: Proenza Schouler, Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger.

A new female look

Now that the New York fashion week is over there's one trend that strikes me. For winter 2010 there are two ways to go. One: the obvious skinny look. And two: the one that's new to me, the over size look. Of course the over size look in itself is not a new thing, but the new thing to me here, is that it looks as if the clothes are not meant to be over size. I don't know if all the outfits shown are just badly fitted, I doubt that. The ironic thing about is that the fashion industry has for so many years been obsessed with skinny girls. Now it looks like the fact that far from every women has a body like a runway model, is okay. I'm not sure how to look at this, if it's an exaggeration of the female body shape, or a cover up with absolutely no shape. But I'm pretty sure that a lot of different women will embrace this look, because it's wearable and it's comfortable. Backstage

I'm not really that big a fan of Anna Sui, but I would love to be backstage at her latest show, so that I could eat some of these macaroons!

When talking about Christian Louboutin, you can't get too many black stilettos. Seriously!  

Chocolate Carolina

In my family, looking like a chocolate is a good thing. That was the vibe a got from the latest Carolina Herrera show. The dresses looked like the finest chocolate wrapped in the most beautiful paper. Carolina Herrera is a master in cut, shape, and tailoring. And this collection showed once again her talent. I’m positive that at the Oscars in March a lot of the dresses on the red carpet will be of the Carolina Herrera label. They will all look like chocolate. 

I love Posh

I am and always will be a huge fan of Victoria Beckham. In the days of the Spice Girls I was Posh spice and the love for Victoria never ended. Now she’s showing her dresses in New York at the Mercedes Bentz fashion week, so that’s a reason to love her even more. And the fact that she’s actually very talented just makes me wanner sing and praise the lord. The collection was as always with a very slim and slender silhouette. It’s Beckham’s trademark, and she does with such chic ness to it that can’t do any thing but embrace it. The color scheme was well put together and only a few patterns at the end were chosen for this very minimalistic collection. I’m sure that if Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn had lived at the same time as Victoria Beckham they would have been best friends. 

Wearing a building

The latest Hervé Léger show reminded me of architecture. The dresses looked like buildings under construction, making a graphic skeleton with iron rods crossing each other, as if the re building of Twin Towers were the inspiration. The black dresses were cool new interpretations of the little black dress. Very edgy, but still very chic. 

Shapes and colors

A BCBG Max Azaria show is always s beautiful dress story. And this show fall/winter 2010 were no exception. I really liked the colors, and the fabric. Fabric like this fall very smoothly down the body, and gives beautiful body shapes. That said, I think looks like these are very beautiful, but quite hard to wear. They look very wearable, but I know that when you're 163 cm like me, cardigans, and tops like these don't look that good. Of course a 180 cm tall thin model look fabulous in these outfits. But it's very few women who will buy this in the fall, who are that tall. I'm not loving the white tights. They remind me of little school girls. And that thought really don't fit with the dresses the models are wearing. But all in all, a beautiful and pretty wearable collection. 

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen!

Oh my god I'm so shocked. One of my favorite designers Alexander McQueen is dead at the age of 40. I don't know why he died. It's such a huge loss for the whole fashion industry. Whole will now make printed dresses, tailored suits, and crazy shoes for Lady Gaga? I have been a fan of him for as far as I remember, and always wanted to some day design for him. I guess that's not gonna happen now. I rally hope that the Gucci Group will continue with the brand in his name. 

I tried to tell my family, how big a loss it is for the fashion business that McQueen is no longer with us. I think it can be compared to the death of Michael Jackson. Alexander McQueen was for fashion what Michael Jackson was for music.

Come back Tom, COME BACK!

Now that the fashion week in New York is on, I am sadly reminded that Tom Ford is still not doing any women's wear. I would really love if he began again. His time at both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent were heavenly. Here are some pictures of his spring 2004 collection for Yves Saint Laurent. The whole dandy like collection is just spot on. Sexy, beautiful made, rich fabrics, and spot on colors. Loving it. I'm so in love with Tom Ford. He really know how to dress a woman and make her feel strong, sexy, feminine, and power full. These women here sure are power full. I would love if there were a store somewhere that sold old collection, so that I could buy some of these looks.
