Victor and Rolf goes in the footsteps of Lanvin

I have always been a huge fan of Victor and Rolf. I adore their way of handling Paris with their off track couture. One one hand they are too avantgarde for Paris and would suit London better in that category, but yet they got that stylish chicness with a twist to their clothes that it could and for ever only can suit Paris. In their latest two or three collection they had gone back to their crazy look. But then I suddenly saw this resort collcetion for 2010 which is of course old at this point of time. But never the less I looked at it to night and found it very classy, stylish and a bit of a Alber Elbaz for Lanvin style to it - which of cause is never a bad way to go. Not a bad way to go but I was surprised. Victor and Rolf are really always different, but in this small collection they became a bit more common. It's beautiful clothes, but not really their signature. Never the less their were still some of their signature pants and shirts which I love. But the dresses are very Lanvin. A little odd. I can't really make up my mind about it. I think I love it. I will always love both Lanvin and Victor and Rolf, so a combination of the two houses in one dress is not such a bad idea. I also have to add that the choice of colors and fabric are divine. Especially the choice of fabric make me see Lanvin in it.

Alice, Alice, who the f**k is Alice

This photo shoot from Vogue US is from 2003. But since there's coming a new movie with Alice in Wonderland I think this photo shoot is more relevant than ever. I just Love it. Here Annie Leibovitz is my god. This is such a lovely photo shoot. I can't imagine any one better to portray the Queen of Hearts than John Galliano, Christian Lacroix as the mad hatter, Victor and Rolf as the twins, and of cause Jean Paul Gaultier as the cheshire cat.
This is not all the pictures from the shoot, just my favorites.

What the cheshire cat would wear

I am convinced that if the cheshire cat would wear any kind of fashion, it would wear Victor and Rolf. Last time I was in Paris I went to the Disney store on Champs Élysée and saw this Halloween outfit. I wish it came in my size. I would love to be the cheshire cat at Halloween. On the other hand I would also love to wear a Victor and Rolf dress for Halloween and come as a bow.

Victor and Rolf

For the fall/winter 2009 show in Paris, Victor and Rolf was inspired by the ancient Greece and Rome. But always with a twist. The interesting thing about this collection was not really all the draped dresses, but the sculptural jackets that were almost 3D. Victor and Rolf always know how to stand out. This may not work off the runway, because it's surly some serious runway clothes, but perhaps in small doses it could work out in the real world. I'm not quite sure what I think yet. But I think that I could be a buyer for that powder blazer. That one is really me and really Victor and Rolf.
All the 3D dresses and jackets reminded me a bit about how a snow crystal look up close. Perhaps that was some of the inspiration for this collection.

Eccentric men!

Some of the most talented designers look like men from who you would never expect the most beautiful clothes in the world. They look a bit crazy, and funny at the same time. But under the odd surface lies huge talents. Here are a few of them, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, Victor and Rolf, and Alexander McQueen (the bunny).
