(Black) diamonds are a girl's best friend...

This is so cool. Alexander McQueen is the only one who can get away with a diamond jumpsuit and it being still super cool. I mean, look at it! If I was that tall it would totally be my new year's eve outfit! And if I was rich enough of course... But lets not talk about the money. Lets just enjoy this wonderful piece of clothes. Or should I say art. I think it is art.

The one you can always rely on, good old Giorgio

He has been in the business for many many years now. He's one of the good old guys along with Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta; you can always rely on them to make beautiful, luxurious, sophisticated, rich and wearable clothes. And Giorgio Armani didn't disappoint with his Pree-fall 2009 collection. As so many times before the colors were dark as a box of chocolate you just want to eat up! It's was very Armani like, but he has the ability to make clothes that looks the same season after season without it becoming boring. He know exactly what he is doing, and nothing in his collections are made randomly. There's a meaning with every thing down to the smallest detail. That's what  I like so much about Armani that every part of every piece of clothes or accessories item are so detailed and beautiful made. In August when I went to London, I walked in to his store on Sloane St. and fell in love with almost every thing in there. I need some Armani one day.
It was difficult for me to choose the pictures for this post, because all the pictures were so delicate. But here are some of them. Enjoy!

My London Louboutins

So I have been holding this for too long now. I promised to post a story about my beloved Christian Louboutin boots, or shoe-booties as I call them. Not really shoes and yet not really boots. Anyway, I bought these in London in August when I went there with my mother and big sister to watch an exhibition about Victor and Rolf.
I have a philosophy about Christian Louboutin shoes, and that is that I only buy them when I'm out traveling. They is one place in Copenhagen where I can get them, and I almost bought a pair some weeks ago. But then I remembered my tradition about only buying them when I'm in Paris, London or some place like.
So in August I bought these, and I'm really really happy about them. I think they are very sophisticated, chic, and yet very rock star like. So cool.

Hervé Léger you are my new love

Lanvin will always have a special place in my heart, but lately I've been falling more and more in love with Hervé Léger. For some seasons now, it has become more and more clear to me, that I relly want, I really NEED a dress by Hervé Léger. He is my new cocktail-dress-designer-God. I think any one who dares jump down a Hervé dress will have some kind of bombshell, cool attitude. In april I have my last school prom, and I'm not the type that wear a huge (wedding) dress. So my plan is that when I'm going to Paris in march I will go to Rue Cambon, and walk in to Hervé Léger just across Chanel, and try out a dress that maybe could be my prom dress. I think that could be so cool, very chik, and very sophisticated.

Zac for fall

Zac Posen returned to the firty, forties infected clothes that are his signature. Clothes that were fashionable back then with the Great Depression, so we are back to square one. Zac Posen said that he hoped his clothes would inspire during challenging times.
The collection was populated with many many dresses; little dresses, cocktail dresses, red carpet dresses and so on and so on. With a long red carpet season ahead, that is wisely done. There were some serious evening gowns, that I think Eva Longoria and Gwyneth Paltrow would fight over.

Oscar is not cutting back...

Backstage Oscar de la Renta said "sometimes you plant and sometimes you weed. This is a weeding time", he said referring to the economy, "but it's also a time of opportunity". Doomsday talk or not, de la Renta doesn't plan on cutting back a whole lot. There were as many party dresses as ever, lots of embroidered sets, feathers and gold. It was very Oscar!

From Russia with love

Paris, December 3, 2008. Paris-Moscow was the collection's theme for the pre fall show at Chanel. A lot was going on here. Many layers of chiffon, sparkling pearls, feathers, embroidered fabrics just name some of it. All that, and much more, put together with a hats that were a mix of military fur headgear and gracious religious hats, cossack boots and leather leggings. I liked some of it very much because of all the details and all embroidery. But at the end it was just too much, and there is only one place I can imagine this work, and only one kind of women that I think can pull these looks of, and that is - surprise - the russians.

The store of my dreams

As one of the pictures say: Le paradis. It's a fantastic store. If you're ever in Paris then go to Rue Faubourg st Honoré 22. On the first floor there's lots of shoes! And on the ground floor all the lovely catwalk clothes are. Lanvin always have some crazy and funny windows decorations. Here is just a few of them, but do your self the favor and go to lanvin.com and watch all the windows, plus you can see the current collection. One of the things I really love about Lanvin is the balance between something funny and yet very sophisticated, classy and elegant. I think that since Alber Elbaz came to the house it is now one of the few fashion houses in the world that in a very nice way are able to both have fun at still be beautiful. John Galliano does it, Marc Jacob does it and Jean Paul Gaultier.

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

The CFDA/Vogue (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Fund celebrated its fifth anniversary last monday night. The fund's top prize, $ 200,000 and a years worth of mentoring, went to Alexander Wang. Alexander Wang is only 24 years old and said when he won "Four years ago I was reading about this ward in my dorm room in a magazine". Here are some pictures of the Alexander Wang's latest collection, Spring/Summer 2009, and a picture of the designer himself. A bit weird but still sweet.

Pinocchio is trendy

Pinocchio is totally in according to Alexander McQueen. We all have to be made of wood next summer. Like it or not, he knows his stuff when it comes to tailoring. It's different and very McQueen in the way the clothes were build, the type of material and the choice of patterns and colors.

Shoes

I just wanted to show this Lanvin shoe. Pearls, simili and flowers at the same time can actually be nice.

Dresses I want

I have become a big fan of Victoria Beckham. First of all I think her taste in clothes is very elegant and classy. At the fashion week in New York this september she took a new turn and became a fashion designer her self. And I must say, the collection of only 15 looks were really nice. Very feminine and sophisticated.

Haute couture

I know that this is an old collection, but I think this is John Galliano for Dior's best haute couture collection ever. When I saw it I was breathless when I saw it first, and I keep on returning to watch the master piece of a collection. He is an artist! So enjoy this Spring/Summer 2007

My to-do list

Before I'm 50 years old there are some objects I need to own:
  • Lanvin dress
  • Birkin Hermés bag
  • A pair of Azzedine Alaia shoes
  • The quilted Chanel bag
  • A little black dress from Chanel
  • Louis Vuitton suitcase
  • Harry Winston earrings
  • Dior Couture dress
  • Hervé Léger cocktail dress
  • A tailored Alexander McQueen jacket
  • Balenciaga bag
  • More Christian Louboutin shoes
  • Kelly Hermés bag
  • Bottega Veneta bag and knot bag
  • Oscar de la Renta summer dress
  • Victor and Rolf pants
The list is long, but I also have a lot of years until I'm 50. Lucky me.

Shoes

I just wanted to show some very lovely shoes I just found. Yes they are very tall and probably not very good for your feeds. But who cares if you can have something like this on your foot?! Roger Vivier, Nina Ricci and Pierre Hardy. It took me a really long time, and a lot of pain to be able to walk in a pair like these for a hole evening. Now it's no problem, but it sure hurt in the beginning. But I don't care about it, because I really think it will be worth the pain to put my foot in a shoe like  this. I know that at time I'm 35 I will probably not be able to ever wear something like this again, but I take a change, and live life and enjoys it on my 12 cm. high heels.

The love for Louboutin

This is my kind of girl. Vacuuming her Christian Louboutin shoes! I like it. It's an old photo of Gemma Ward, from some Vogue I think. It so great.

Dresses I want

Usually I think DolceGabbana is a bit trivial. Always the same sexy dresses that look great on girls like Victoria Beckham or Jennifer Lopez. But then came along the spring/summer 2008 collection and my opinion about DolceGabbana change completely. The collection was really beautiful. It wasn't the typical Milan show, it was very Parisan. The climax was at the end with five outstanding dresses, all draped and hand painted. Once I saw one of them in Vogue, and the price was 'to order', so I don't think it will be in this lifetime I will get my hands on one of those dresses.

The Bottega Knot

The knot. Not just an ordinary knot. A little clutch for the theater, party or a night out with the girls sipping cocktails. I am in love. And so is my mother. We are thinking about buying one and share it because they are so expensive. That would be a good idea I think :) Half a year ago I got the wonderful news that Bottega Veneta was opening a store in Copenhagen. Now I don't have to go to Paris or London to get one. There are many different to choose from. Here is just a small selection. Go to bottegaveneta.com and check them all out.

Comme des Garçons

So two days ago was once again my annual big H and M day. A day I skip school to stand in line in front of one of the H and M shops in Copenhagen to get some of the special edition clothes. First it was Karl Lagerfeld, then Stella McCartney, then came Victor and Rold, Roberto Cavalli and now it was Comme des Garçons. It is by now a tradition for me to get at least one piece from every one of the H and M collection.
I didn't knew that much about Comme des Garçons, just that it was made by a Japanese woman and that it often was very avantgarde. I had this idea that Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake would be the asian input to the western world of fashion.
I went to the website of H and M and looked at what I would like to have. And I must say that they wasn't really any thing that I would die for... Okay I thought, I will go there anyway and check it out. I had made a strategy to go to one of the smallest shops and hope that there wouldn't be too many people. That was a good tactic, because when I got to the shop there was still a lot of clothes left. Back in the metro I got my self a paper were there was this article about Comme des Garçons and their collaboration with H and M. Comme des Garçons had been H and M first wish on their list of designers they wanted to work with. But it hadn't been possible before now. Another thing I didn't knew was that a designer like Marc Jacobs gets alot of his inspiration from Rei Kawakubo who is the designer of Comme des Garçons. So i don't think I have been giving Comme des Garçons the credit that they deserved. I will just post a picture from the Comme des Garçon runway spring/summer 2009 and a picture from H and M's website with a picture of the pants I got.

Jewels

So I will just advertise for the Danish jewel designer Julie Sandlau. She makes the most beautiful earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. I must say that I am a huge fan of her earrings. So here is a small selection of some of her work. A great part of it all is that is's not very expensive.

Accessory Report

I really like these. Alber Elbaz for Lanvin. Do I have to say more? I imagine this is what Marie Antoinette or a russian czarina would wear if they lived to day. They are so cool in a vintage-futuristic kind of way. I would love to see the green one on a woman like Eva Green. Very femme fatale. The white one would be great on Natalie Portman or some one like Keira Knightley.
The mix of the old school bijouterie with diamonds and pearls, plexiglass, screws and silk is just great. Alber Elbaz really knows what he is doing.
And speaking of the little black dress (previous post) I think these necklaces would be a great choice of accessory. A very simple dress and then spice it up with a beautiful necklace. I want one! I just think that if I want one I need to work from now until christmas 2009!

The little black dress

The little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, originally made popular in the 1920's by the fashion designer Coco Chanel. Intended by Chanel to be a long lasting, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color. The little black dress is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, who believe it is "a rule of fashion" that every woman should own a little black dress. In 1926 Gabrielle Chanel published a picture of a short, simple black dress in Vogue. Vogue called is "Chanel's Ford", like the Model T, the little black dress was simple and accessible for women of all social classes. Vogue also said hat the little black dress would become "a sort of uniform for all women of taste".
Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's epitomized the Chanel ideal by wearing black dresses, accessorized with pearls, as was frequently seen throughout the early 1960's. Betty Boop, a cartoon character, one of the 1920's "it girls" was drawn wearing a little black dress in her early films, though with Technicolor, Betty's dress became red.
Even though the idea behind the dress was that it should be a dress every woman could afford, Chanel makes some of the worlds most expensive dresses.
